After Rain is a lovely little book filled with reflections from the author’s life, beautifully described with their spiritual connections and life lessons, each illustrated with her artwork or photography.
As the author says “Wisdom abounds out there in the world” and she has found plenty to share, including everyday interactions with others, observances on nature, a trip to the Galapagos Islands of Ecuador and another in the world of dreams. And as she writes in the chapter Wisdom Keeper – a poignant and very personal tale about her mother’s death – we all, if we are fortunate, transition into being the oldest generation in our family; the Elder, the Wisdom Keeper.
Maycock describes her book as “a gift of thanks, a practical guide, a book of wisdom and simple truths” and in my opinion it is all that and more, offering insights to the reader which are effortlessly absorbed during pleasurable peaceful reading; a book to pick up and browse time and time again whenever you need a moment’s beauty or inspiration.
