Words for Wellbeing

Words for Wellbeing is a useful selection of articles, prose and poetry compiled to help people enjoy writing as a way back to wellbeing.  However as well as benefiting health professionals who want to set up writing groups and individuals who have experienced health problems, this book would be very suitable for anyone who is interested in writing for pleasure but thinks ‘I’m no good at that’.

With a wide variety of information and suggestions the article chapters have many examples of how there is no wrong way to write and how anyone can benefit from the power of story. The contents listing makes it easy to distinguish the practical articles from the poetry and prose, meaning the reader can easily use the book for research or dip into it for inspiration.

It took me rather a while to write this review as since receiving the book I first lent it to a colleague who found it very helpful during setting up a writer’s group for people with mental health issues.  I then started reading it myself, got sidetracked by a suggestion and set up freestyle fable writing on the Indie Shaman forum.  All in all a very useful book!
