Rescuing the Light

Author, Martín Prechtel, probably needs no introduction, raised in the Tzutujil Maya shamanic tradition, he is dedicated to the preservation of indigenous spirituality and widely recognised as a writer and teacher. He describes Rescuing the Light as “simply a very small grouping of sayings and quotes [he spoke] … during the last fifteen years of Bolad’s Kitchen sessions”. Only I think in saying ‘simply’ he missed describing the depth of meaning within these recollections and in ‘very small’ he omitted to mention how many there would have been in the whole; as this, relatively small, book is packed with wisdom!

The snippets from Prechtel’s teachings were chosen by students who had attended Bolad’s Kitchen, Pretchel’s idea being that the sentences they could remember which helped them recall what was taught when they returned to modern life could be made available in this way as a gift to a much wider audience.

Eloquent, accessible and inspirational Rescuing the Light brings sparks of spiritual wisdom; a marvellous book  you can dip into, read a line or two and sit pondering, letting your thoughts meander where they will.
