Dancing with Raven and Bear

Opening with a wonderfully evocative illustrated sentence that immediately caught my attention (“She travelled with Ravens and dreamed herself into the mountains”), Dancing with Raven and Bear contains 18 chapters each featuring an original fable followed by thoughts, guidance and factual information on a topic related to the tale.

Author, Sonja Grace is a storyteller, healer and spirit traveller who grew up in a Norwegian household where she heard Norwegian folklore as a child. Her blood line includes Choctaw and Cherokee on her mother’s side and she was adopted on the Hopi Reservation, marrying into the tribe as well.

Dancing with Raven and Bear is woven with the influence of all of Grace’s heritage and the reader can sense that her words and illustrations come straight from the author’s heart and own spiritual experiences with Raven and Bear.

A charming little book of wisdom that is, in addition, a highly enjoyable read.
